Pulsatilla (Anemone pulsatilla)

Like lemon balm and motherwort, pulsatilla is excellent for anxiety and panic.

It is sedative, relaxant, pain relieving, and antispasmodic.

It is recommended for individuals who cannot take too much stimulation. Pulsatilla is also beneficial for those who are emotionally reactive and who weep easily.

As a nerve tonic, it is recommended for de[Pression, nervous exhaustion, sleeplessness and physical and emotional tension.

Pulsatilla calms the cardiac networks and helps us shift from extreme fight or flight

(panic) into a more relaxed and grounded state. It brings peace to a troubled heart and supports higher conscious awareness.

It helps to free energy flow between the heart and the head, according to Caroline Gagnon, an amazing herbalist from Montreal. Pulsatilla also eases the pain of heartbreak after the end of a relationship.

Pulsatilla is the herb for people who feel they can no longer cope or who are experiencing strong hormonal shifts, according to Australian herbalist Dorothy Hall. It helps relieve PMS, menstrual cramping and inflammation and pain in the ovaries.

Pulsatilla is a strong herb and should only be used when dried. I recommend 1-3 drops on the tongue 2-3 times daily. It can also be used in very small amounts in a formula.

As a flower essence, pulsatilla helps balance the emotions and strengthens the ability to focus on one thing at a time.

Blessings,

Madelon Hope
